Extracellular Matrix: Matrigel

A soluble basement membrane extract for optimal 2D and 3D cell culture, promoting cell adhesion, differentiation, and physiologically relevant growth.

Product Description

Matrigel is a soluble basement membrane extract isolated from mouse sarcoma. This tumor is rich in Extracellular Matrix (ECM) proteins, such as laminin (the main component), type IV collagen, heparan sulfate proteoglycan, nidogen, and various growth factors. It can improve the adhesion and differentiation of normal and transformed anchorage-dependent epithelial cells as well as other types of cells. It can better mimic the in vivo environment and is suitable for both 2D and 3D cell culture applications.
